Social/Food Porn: What is hiding behind?

– During these last years, snapping food is becoming a trend all around the world and it forms almost the 80% of the Instagram pictures. The tendency consists in framing food in plastic and explicit way, so it is called ‘food porn’ thanks to the aim of enticing people into eating it. It seems to be a harmless and funny custom, but it can bring serious problems: orthorexia. Orthorexia is an eating disorder, discovered in 1997, which looks like anorexia and bulimia. It’s the phobia of not eating healthy food, which spread with the new medias.
Maddy worked as a model and her obsession for the healthy food moved into orthorexia: “I burst into tears and I had panic attacks every time I was in front of food which was not in my diet. It was frustrating.” In that period the simple idea of eating a BigMac caused her physical pain. She couldn’t eat fruit because they told her fruit contains sugar, and sugar would make her put on weight. She blames blogs and socials: “someone could have a perfect dreamy body, but someone could also have mental, spiritual, physical and sexual problems. Like it happened to me.” She gives an advice to anyone who thinks suffering from orthorexia: “Get free from the obsession of physical exercise and diets: articles, people, movies, social accounts. Eliminate the voices which tell your body is not enough.”
What we post on the social networks, clothes, food or make up, it’s only appearance, but feeding is something important and ruining our body, heath and life is something serious.
